Magna Carta reading notes by Annie

'Marga cart'a, cames from Latin, means 'great document'great charter'', is a royal charter under the seal of King John branted 'in the meadow called Runny mede between Windsor and Staines' n 15 June 1215. This year 800 aniverssary .

It is in Latin.

At the time of Magna Carta the powers which we now know as the royal prerogatives were more often known as the king's liberties. They were liberties of the same kind as the liberties of the Church, the barons,and all free men.


Magna Carta, was fundamentally, an assertion ofthe principle of the predominance of LAW.

I enjoyed the book, as well as the movie.

 

Here are some beautiful words I have learned from reading:

 

muse   v. p73 think (over) in a quiet, leisure way.

            He mused.

distinct   a. p75 clear, easily seen or noticed.

 

tweed  n. p76 a woollen cloth with a rugh surface.

            Her singing made me wince.

Tarla was a healer in sumara.
